Ramadan 2025
Ramadan 2025 began on March 1 and will continue until March 30 or March 31
What faculty needs to know:
- Ramadan is the Muslim month of fasting.
- Practicing Muslim students will be fasting from dawn until dusk (approximately 5AM until 7PM)
- Fasting = No Food and No Water during fasting hours
During Ramadan Muslims will often pray late into the night. It is not unusual to be up past midnight for prayers and then get up around 4AM to eat and pray at dawn.
Muslim students in your classes may be tired, hungry, and dehydrated -- especially if they are with you late in the afternoon. Please be mindful of this if they are in your classes. For evening faculty, perhaps giving students a short rest to break their fast would be helpful.
