Mercer Gallery Presents Guerrilla Girls Exhibition
Please share with students:The current exhibition in the Mercer Gallery is Looking Back: Revisiting the Guerrilla Girls' 1995 Visit to MCC. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of this event, the show is comprised of a series of posters by the Guerrilla Girls, which were purchased at this event in 1995. Having been in storage for a number of years, it is a perfect time to pull these out, dust them off, and experience them again. The exhibition is on display until April 11.
In addition to the exhibition, there will be a reception and panel discussion on Tuesday March 18th. Starting at 5:00 pm in the North Atrium, a reception will be held to view the works. Starting at 6:00 pm, we will move to 05-200 to listen to a panel discussion, with a conversation on various topics. Kathleen Farrell will reflect on the 1995 visit, Alisia Chase from SUNY Brockport will give a brief history of women in the arts, Bridget Flemming from the University of Rochester will give a brief history of the Guerrilla Girls, and Timothy Peterson from the Memorial Art Gallery will discuss recent trends in the art world involving women in the arts.
