What is TRIO Student Support Services?

TRIO Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program sponsored by the United States Department of Education. TRIO programs were created to encourage students to pursue their education regardless of socioeconomic, cultural, or ethnic background. TRiO SSS provides services that assist college students to remain in college through graduation. TRIO SSS assists participants in developing their academic potential for success in post-secondary education.

Mission Statement

The mission of TRIO Student Support Services at Monroe Community College is to increase the academic achievement, retention, and graduation rates of first-generation, low income students and students with disabilities. Our staff is committed to providing quality services and supporting the transformational experience of each program participant. SSS aims to increase student engagement, strengthen self-efficacy, and prepare students for becoming global citizens. The SSS program will encourage and assist 300 students from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds.
